The Swan at Lavenham are looking for an enthusiastic Food and Beverage Assistant to join their current team.

This is a full time role.

Hourly pay: National Minimum Wage

 

Overall Job Purpose

To provide courteous, efficient and knowledgeable service to guests, to ensure that presentation and cleaning standards are achieved and maintained.

Main Responsibilities

Customer Focus:

  • Ensure that all customers and guests are acknowledged on arrival in a friendly and polite manner.
  • Ensure knowledge of products, daily specials, seasonal and local dishes is kept up-to-date.
  • Be aware of who is waiting to be served and ensure that people are served in turn and that they are not kept waiting.

 

Key Tasks:

  • Keep up-to-date knowledge about the content of each menu option to be able to inform customers correctly and accurately.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge on which beverage options are currently available.
  • Serve beverages correctly ie: the correct beverage in the correct glass, proper presentation, mixers.
  • Be able to take orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Offer customers appropriate accompaniments.
  • Ensure the restaurant and bar areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure crockery, glassware and silverware is cleaned and polished.
  • Ensure that restaurant tables are laid up correctly.
  • Ensure condiments are replenished when necessary.
  • Replace dirty table linen.
  • Carry out room, terrace and lounge service as required.
  • Clearing of any spillages as soon as soon as they occur.
  • Front and face bar stocks and glassware.
  • Stock rotation.
  • Carry out all procedures in accordance with company standards and the procedures manuals.
  • Adhere to all health and safety and fire prevention procedures.
  • Report any stock shortages, customer requests/special needs and suggestions to the manager.

 

Key Performance Measures:

  • Guest comments/feedback.
  • Accuracy of orders.
  • Efficiency of service.

 

Special Requirements:

  • You will be required to wear a uniform.
  • Be able to work flexibly – working shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Be willing to cover in other hotels within the group when neccessary.
