Apprentice Greenkeeper - Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel

Salary: £11,440 per year 

Thorpeness Golf Club and Hotel is one of Suffolk’s premier golf courses and has a long and proud history of presenting an exciting and challenging championship golf course in excellent condition.

We are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our greens team as an Apprentice. You will be trained by a team of successful green keepers with many years of experience, to ensure you gain knowledge of all areas of golf course maintenance, training is also linked to Suffolk New College at Otley. On successful completion of this course, you will receive your qualification in Golf Greenkeeping (level 2).

This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week across 5 days out of 7 and will involve early starts (around 5:30am). This will include some weekend work too.

Key tasks of an Apprentice Greenkeeper include:

  • Maintain the golf course and grounds as directed by the Course Manager.
  • Use all equipment especially cutting equipment, machinery and chemicals as instructed, always following health and safety procedures.
  • General Upkeep of the Golf Course
  • Mowing Fairways, rough and greens
  • Bunker raking and upkeep
  • Greens maintenance, aeration, repairs
  • Assist with ongoing fertilising/spraying schedules
  • Assist in irrigation maintenance and watering programmes

  • High attention to detail
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Good initiative
